Enable Gd on Godaddy Dedicated

I need help enabling GD on my Godaddy dedicated server. I know you have to uncomment the php.ini fine in your root and such, but I cant get it done for some reason. I tried it using core ftp and it didnt work, so then I tried it through ssh and I couldnt get logged in.

Please help... I need it badly.

Best thing to do is contact their support and ask them you might not have access.

Believe me, I have contacted godaddy like 12 times now. They have that policy that if you use a dedicated server, it is up to you to find out what is wrong. They keep telling me there is nothing wrong with the login, but yet i cant get in.

When I tryto type a password it wont even let me type.

ask them to reset your root password.

No... I know the root password and I even verified it with them.

Do you think I could get someone here to do it for $5 or something?

You need to recompile php with GD support, or if its a windows server uncomment the gd lib under the modules section in php.ini and restart IIS/Apache

No need to recompile PHP, just simply install the libgd with yum or pear; however, it requires root access.

Umm yeah mind explaining... I am not very good with server management, only with websites and coding.

It is a red hat linux server.

Thanks guys...

maybe this post helps

It would be better to compile it directly into php.

Cyk do you have any sort of manger, like cpanel/whm, ensim, etc?

I still cant ssh to work and godady isnt exactly helping :(

Last I recall, GoDaddy doesn't offer managed dedicated servers. In such a case, unless you pay them directly for a server admin, you're on your own.

It's always best to go managed in the case you do not know how to modify the core/root server files or re-compile software.

yeah... so I realized that.

Anyways, I have cpanel/whm

Click on the update apache link on the side panel, then click load previous config if its avaible, make sure you check GD

Update apache will only update to the latest installation that CPanel supports, however. If you're looking to upgrade your software to the actual latest version, you'll need to recompile manually or wait it out until CPanel supports the version you're looking to install.

I just did the apache update and it works wonderfully. Thanks for the help guys.
