Category: Web Site Critique Area
My First Site

Hi Everyone,

I would love any comments, hints, suggestions, and critique you have.

I was asked by the company I work for to create a website for them. Not having the first clue on how to do one, I took a class in February, did a ton of research on the web, and this is what I came up with. http://www.kbc-inc.com

There are still a lot of things I'd like to add, but you have to start somewhere and this is it. Please be honest.......don't worry, I can take it. :D

Thank you for taking the time to look at the site and submit your comments. I really appreciate it.

Chot

Chot,

I'll start off by saying what I really like about the site. From a marketing stand point, I think it's really good that you've used text as much as possible (like your logo with company name, you have the logo image and then the company name in text). Thats a definite plus when trying to get higher search engine rankings.

I think the site is very clean, and I like the navigation. There is no confusion there, you have the two methods of navigation (side bar and bottom links). There is nothing worse than really confusion nav bars.

I like the contact info that you have at the bottom of every page. It's nice not to have to dig to get contact info.

If I had to nitpick, I would say maybe adding more color to your site would make it more interesting. There is currently alot of white space in your site. I like that since it makes it look very clean, but at the same time, maybe adding a little color down the left column would add some interest without taking away that clean look and feel.

Honestly, it's an amazing site for being your first site. I wish my first website turned out that well :)

Overall, I think the site is simple and straightforward, which I always like to see in a website.

I have a couple of minor suggestions. First of all, the red text doesn't work for me. I don't think it fits with the rest of the color scheme. Secondly, because the text on the left of the "references" page is in blue and below the navigation, I expected it to be links, which it wasn't

Wow, this is a very nice site. The only comment I have is to consider using stylesheets in the future. That will allow you to change fonts, colors, sizes, etc. by only changing one file.
