Pre-sales questions

Hi,

I've posted a couple of tickets to your email system over the last couple of days and they haven't been answered; so I thought I'd try this way instead. Although usually I would go looking elsewhere to purchase products and services if a pre-sales question was ignored; I'm really interested in opening an account with your company as you come highly recommended. I'm guessing that my tickets weren't answered due to your heavy schedule re: the upgrade.

Your technology model looks great - I just have a couple of questions.

I have a number of sites, so I'll probably take out the Advanced 4, but initially I'd like to test out an entry level package with a single domain before upgrading and moving my other domains over. I understand the VDS system that you use and it looks great, but I just wanted to confirm whether WestHost carries out OS upgrades as they become a available or
is this the responsibility of the account owner?

When I go to upgrade an entry level package, can I go from a Starter package directly to Advanced-4 seamlessly? How long would the upgrade take before I had access to the extra bandwidth etc?

Are your technicians available for custom work if needed, and if so, what is the hourly rate and minimum?

Is there any discount on bandwidth if it's purchased in blocks of 5gig or 10gig?

Can extra domains be added to the starter package, or is it locked down to 1 domain?

When will your live support and telephone support be operational again?

Thanks for your patience and assistance. I look forward to becoming one of your clients very soon.

Regards,

Alycia

Alycia,

Thanks for your questions and sorry about the delay in response.

1) OS and hardware upgrades are the responsibility of WestHost with all hosting packages. We also are constantly upgrading versions of Perl, PHP, MySQL, and other software offered with your account.

2) Upgrades are seamless as we simply change your quotas and "turn on" any newly available features and software. There is no moving or setup required.

3) WestHost charges $70/hour, with half hour minimums for custom work. Currently we are not offering this service, but will again shortly, once we've caught up with our WestHost 2.0 transition.

4) Normally we do not give discounts on volume bandwidth purchases. Most likely it would need to be more than 5 or 10 GIGs before we would look at a potential discount.

5) Extra domains can be added to any of our hosting packages, including the Starter and Value which only come with one (1). There is a one-time fee of $10 for each additional domain added to an account.

6) Telephone support is currently available for all departments, including support. It is offered between 9 AM and 6 PM, Monday through Saturday. We are utilizing night hours to catch up on support tickets, but should resume to normal 24 hours accessibility shortly.

Hopefully we can get things running smoothly again soon. Thanks for your post.
