I currently have a website with vbulletin. My current host suspended me because they said my website consumed unusually high cpu resource. I have no clue why they said that because I only got at most 50 people shown in the online list of the forum.
My question:
If I choose one of the vps plans, what is the maximum number of users online at my forum allowed?
Do you have any website hosted in your forum with high traffic?
ALthough it doesn't sound like a lot, 50 users online means 50 people simultaneously running several SQL queries to use the forum, and it leads to a higher load than you might think. I would expect you'd find that the same usage would land you in trouble with a WestHost shared hosting account.
You could take a look at www.webmasterworld.com, they are hosted here and they have lots of forums and members.
Bear in mind that site uses a forum system that renders the pages to html rather than being dynamically generated all the time, which makes it a lot less intensive than most forum software like phpBB, IPB, SMF, etc.

actually i am not a customer yet and i would like to be but for right now i am snooping the forums and basically researching a vps host.
i did look up www.webmasterworld.com and i found that they are hosted by rackspace.com ....
This whois service shows the information for .COM and .NET domains
only if they are registered thru DotRegistrar.com. For ORG, .BIZ, .US .INFO and
.NAME domains, the information is displayed regardless of the sponsoring
registrar for said domains.
The fact that your query returns "NOT FOUND" does not necessarily mean that
