a couple of suggestions

I don't know if this has been brought up before, but I'd like to see imagemagick as a value app.

Also, why not have some westhost branded blogging software? Perhaps even create a main blog site that gets pinged when individuals update their blogs, like the other blogs do.

Imagemagick can be installed via SSH by you (it's all done automatically, just need to type the one command). Or you could just get WestHost to install it for you... But, yes, it should be available via the Site Manager.

I like your "community blog" idea, except that I don't think people would want to brand their blogs. But the ping idea is great ;)

The one thing about the current Imagemagick WH install is it seems to be limited to convert or at least that is all I have been able to get to work consistantly. Ofcourse you can try to install the current version of Imagemagick yourself via SSH but it can get pretty involved or at least my attempts to do so where.

Hopefully they can get it added to the apps in the near future.

(the wish list continues...)

I just got done adding passwords to several directories on my site (kinda tedious). It would be nice to have a way to do it through our control panel like we were able to under 1.0

You can install (from the Site Manager) an app called "Web Password" (or sth similar) which will do that for you.

Another recommended app is one called HTEdit (which you'll have to google for) that is easy to install and works well.

HTH

okay, thanks

How about adding Postgres in addition to Mysql?

It would be nice to have Postgres as an alternative to Mysql. In some ways I like it better. However, I don't know that there is a huge demand for it. Anyone else want Postgres?

How about mod_auth_digest so we can password protect directorys with md5 passwords.

We have mod_digest, but it does not function in newer browsers.

So how DO you install imagemagick on your account?

I PM'd you with the information feverish.

What about getting a Permission-based Newsletter or E-mail Marketing software package to the hosting package. My organization has permission-based email members and when we send out mass emailings we always have to use the Bcc box so that we do not share email addresses. Also, we tried the services with Constant Contact (www.constantcontact.com) and Go Daddy Software-Express Email Marketing (www.godaddy.com). However, if we stayed with their organization for this service we would probably end up paying about 1-5 thousand dollars a year, just to send out a few messages and updates about our organization. Would it even be possible to get a permission-based newsletter/e-mail marketing software on our hosting plans?

We realize that this might be hard to implement because of the all the spamming activity and laws coming into place. If you could just copy what Constant Contact or Go Daddy does, it would be GREAT!!!

PostgreSQL is much better, it supports more SQL commands that are usually required by enteprise apps.

MySQL is nice compact and fast but just isn't upto scratch for some high end apps such as CRM and ERP packages.

Seen as we cannot install Oracle (Express) on our servers (be nice if we could ;) ) PostgreSQL would be a nice addition.
