AntiSocial Forum

Being a recluse myself, I was wondering if this really is a social forum, or if we are just avoiding contact with other people here. What do you guys think? Would you rather talk to someone face to face or via an electronic medium?

I enjoy both although I must say that I do like talking to someone face to face. I really did not spend much time with forums untill WestHost started this one. I have enjoyed reading the post and responding to them. I think there is a place in the world for both. Some folks like yourself are more comfortable with comunication of this type and I think that is fine.... at least your comunicating.... :D

I don't think it's anti-social. I'd have to travel around the world to be able to talk to all the folks that I talk to here.

Like wildjokerdesign, I enjoy communicating both ways. I think electronic adds to communication, not take away from it.

It depends on what we're talking about. It's really handy to be able to find a group of people that have a common interest and get feedback and stuff. Like finding out where the best deals are (thanks for the links torrin). Sometimes it's easier to type something here because you get to think about what you're going to say before you say it...

. . . Like finding out where the best deals are (thanks for the links torrin). . . .

Actually Neo posted that over in this forum (http://forums.westhost.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=208). So he deserves all the credit. :)

I wish I had more time for forums! With work, my webstore orders, club, family, kids, pets and an overactive social life I would KILL for a few hours a week to forum surf, net surf or even chat with interesting and fun strangers *grin*
So, no, it's not anti-social if you have r/t things happening too. If ALL of your friends are online then maybe it would be a good idea to try to make some of them real - look for online friends that live close and arrange a meeting in a public place to start. Online friends are great and enriching, nothing bad there...

I actually met my fiance online at a forum, so there you go! hehe
