No more infobars please...

Please get rid of the info bars. It's worse than having popups right now.

That little blip sound is fine once in a while but not on every page.

Yeah, maybe it should just be on the forum index, rather than
on every single page...

What info bar are you talking about?

View the index page when you are not logged in...

There's a thread about it in the Lounge... -> Clicky... (http://forums.devshed.com/t230006/s.html)

Hey kids its strictly a business decision. We want people who arent registered to register. And we want people who arent logged in to log in. If you are logged in you will NEVER see the bar.

People who are registered tend to post. People who are logged in tend to post. Posts are good.

That's a good point, but stuff like that is as annoying as popups,
so if I went to a technical forum where loads of crap pop'ed up
there's no way I'd register there. I just think it might drive un-
registered folk away, rather than make them want to sign up...

Maybe, maybe not. Its not a pop up, it fits neatly on the page. But it does grab your attention. And we need to increase signups as much as possible.

The thing with it is that I do post. But instead of the bar "forcing" someone to log in, it should welcome them to login.

Forcing me to do anything isn't the best approach to getting me to login or register. It's not even the bar itself that bothers me. It's the sound on every single page while I browse.

I don't like to stay logged in on websites (maybe that's just me) but having that sound there makes me not want to stay at the forums.

Just a bit of advice. I'm not trying to knock a business decision but just trying to see both sides of it (looking as a member and not being logged in at the same time).
