OS 9 wireless problem

I've got a Belkin F5D6050 USB Wireless adapter. I installed the drivers for Mac OS 9.2 on my Mac G3 (as well as OS 9.2).

The problem is, is that sometimes on random boots the computer will freeze or the wireless adapter won't find any connections.

The solution is to reinstall the driver. This works for a day, then the next day I have to reinstall it again. Oh, and when I boot up I have to keep it unplugged and plug it back in after the first boot after reinstalling the driver.

How can I fix this?

try loading the extension for the belkin first. find out the name of the extension in the control panel and put a space or _ in front of the name.

do the standard troubleshooting step, load only os 9 essential or basic extensions, plus the belkin's and see where that takes you.

good luck.

ps. btw, did you contact belkin?

I am a newbee to the mac, so all that you just said was almost gibberish :-/

I did find a fix for it though. When booting up, I have to keep the adapter unplugged. Once it's fully booted, I can plug it in and it works fine.

I'm pretty newb’ish compared to these guys having never used Classic :D.

Anyway, glad you found a work around for it, but you should still probably contact Belkin anyway just to see if they have a better solution i.e. a driver update perhaps :). Nothing to loose by it .

Take care Xbot,

Mark.
