The dark art of thievary

To be a successful thief, you must be persistent.

I've found a good strategy is to wager 1. If your wager fails, wager 2. If that wager is successful, start over at 1, you've successfully stolen 1.
If that wager of 2 fails, however, wager 15. You're more likely to win now. If 15 fails, wager 30.

As always, know when to quit, I know times I was ahead 118 devs and I kept on goin, ended up at 0 again. :)

Have fun.

Have fun. Yep, but I think they changed something about a week ago, because I lost 1000 devs, I kept thinking maybe it'll give it now now now but nope kept failing, then of course it works when you do like 1.

Small amounts are easier to steal (and recover if you lose them.) So if it is mostly a random chance, eventually you are going to come out pretty well.

A new strategy.
Ok, I just robbed the heck out of someone (not naming names, you probably know who you are). I just went from about 10 devs to 388. :)

Robbing for dummies:
Ensure you've got enough money built up to use this next strategy.(80ish, use the method described above until you're ready for this.)

Wager 1 until it fails once. I can hit 1 about 5/6 times in a row, then it'll fail. Wager a much greater number the time after it fails on 1 (eg 40, 60, 80, 100, etc). I've gotten good payout by doing this up to 144 devs at a time.

As always, know when to stop. Also, make sure you don't drain the poor sap's bank pockets. If you continue to steal from a sapped sap, I'm sure it'll play the see-saw game with you.

Enjoy

Not if you put it in the bank :), anything in the bank can't be stolen, I steal from people then when I leave make sure I have zero left.

And ya that staragy works you just have to make sure not to get greedy :) just lost the 100 I made.

Although, not saying how much I have in the bank though ;)

When you fail to steal, the victim gets the devs that you lose. If that is the case then I think the chance of succeeding to Thieve should be fixed at 50%. Otherwise people are more likely to get rich from NOT being a thief, than from being a thief!

Would you expect ALL classes to be equal, or to keep same chance at all and against all levels?

Actually, I take it back. I was not having any luck thieving but then I did.

Having just swapped CLass to a Thief-type I am gonna have to play close attention ...

I find the doubling method works ok but only up to 8 or 16 devs, thne I start failing. I've never tried to take more than that. But shouldn't I have a better chance of success, being a level 16 Thief?

EDIT:
I had 135 devs and lost it all trying to steal. The most I tried was 20 once. Is there any point to being a thief, if all characters can steal better than mine?

Thief == rouge type class

I've had a poor run of thieving of late but I notice when your theft fails you always lose 0 reputation, is it possible to lose more than 0 and what does it affect?
