I finally got MovableType installed. Everything loaded and seemed to check out. When I ran MT it took me to a nice looking login screen -- everything good so far. But then I couldn't login. Every time I get a "file cannot be found."
Apparently, MT can see my static files (because the login screen is accessing MT images, the template and stylesheet). The script seems to be running...
I suspect the problem may be with my MySQL database, just because that's the part of this process I know nothing about. I created a database just for MT, and I suppose it's configured properly...
Another possibly problem could be interference from the Frontpage extensions installed on the site...
Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks for your help.
Do you have phpMyAdmin on installed on your account.... oh you are on WH 2.0 right?
That is the easy way to check your databases out and see if they are there and set right. Is there a little more info you could give us not sure what the script is trying to do. I do know that in it somewhere it should configure database, username, and password. The database would be MT the username would be root I imagine and the password what ever you set for the database.
I have no experience with Frontpage so can not really comment on that part sorry.

As for my problem, I discovered the I had messed up the path to the CGI script in my config file. I changed it to http://www.mydomain.com/cgi-bin/movabletype/mt.cgi (the same way I call the script in my browser) and everything worked.
I am surprised to NOT see any Movabletype threads in this forum. Maybe most bloggers prefer even cheaper hosts, but my other sites are here so I'm sticking around (I did shop a bit though).
Another thing, my Movabletype "script checker" said that ImageMagick (I think 5.7) is installed. I wonder if that's a newer version or still the .jpg impaired version?
Finally, maybe bloggers have been avoiding Westhost due to the ImageMagick problem. I think Westhost should cater to bloggers more by adding some Movabletype specific help to the manual and making sure all the needed libraries, etc. are installed. It's a big market to miss over such simple things (well, simple to me :).

Sure sounds good... boy you are right about the getting out. I spend way to much time in front of a computer screen.
Not sure on the version number of ImageMagick or the .jpg flaw but do know it seems to be working well for me. Ofcourse the only thing I am useing it for at the moment is to create thumbnails of image that users upload. Sure beats doing it manually or haveing to set the image width to 150 and leaving the height blank so it well fake a thumbnail.
Not much of a blogger myself. Wonder how much bandwidth or space they need. Maybe one of the resellers could cater to them.... oh wait I am a reseller... :) hmmmm..... now if I could just figure out how to get the system set so they could use it.
