PHP and MySQL Site Application Upgrades

Dear WestHost Client,

We are very excited about the recent updates to our Site Applications offered through your Control Panel (Site Manager). Upgrades to PHP and MySQL are in the final stages of deployment and you should notice the new Applications in your Control Panel (Site Manager) no later than Thursday, February 3rd. In addition to PHP and MySQL, we have included updated versions of the Java JRE and PhpMyAdmin.

These upgrades are completely optional, and are provided at your request. You have complete control over the installation process and time. When you are ready to upgrade, there are certain considerations you should be made aware of. We have prepared two documents to help you in the transition to new versions of PHP and MySQL; we recommend that you review this information prior to upgrading.

- Upgrading PHP (http://members.westhost.com/phpupgrade.html)
- Upgrading MySQL (http://members.westhost.com/mysqlupgrade.html)

IMPORTANT NOTE: Because of potential security issues with older versions of PHP, we recommend that you upgrade your PHP to at least version 4.3.10. Upgrade instructions can be found at the PHP Upgrade (http://members.westhost.com/phpupgrade.html) page. For more information about PHP 4.3.10 bug fixes and security patches, please visit the PHP 4.3.10 Release Announcement (http://www.php.net/release_4_3_10.php).

We have made every effort to make these documents comprehensive, but we are also aware that it is impossible to predict every situation. If you find that you need additional information or assistance regarding these new applications, please contact us (http://members.westhost.com/contactus.html).

Best Regards,

WestHost Inc.
