Webalizer question

Is it true that if you want to change any of the settings in webalizer from the graphical interface, the changes will only be shown from that time forward. Example: I have some TMP*.* files in my root directory. I try to exclude them in my webalizer reports top URL's. I exclude them in "exclude URL's" option and "hide URL's" option. But they still show up because I did not change the report before the files were placed there?

Yes. Webalizer extracts information from the logs everyday and creates its own files.

This brings to mind something that occured long ago back when 1.0 was around and Wusage was in use. A user had hit their diskquota and could not figure out why. It turned out that the files Wusage had created was the reason. Not sure if this is a possibility with Webilizer since I use an outside service to track my sites but thought I would mention it.

We recently set up Webilizer for our site. It gives the statistics for our domain, but we are trying to separate the information for each domain within our site... How do you do this?

Thanks!

DougT

Someone else may give you more detailed instructions in a minute when they get in, but roughly, you create an instance of Webalizer for each domain you have and then set the filters to only count hits on that domain.

The reports in Webalizer are only for the last few days. I can't look back and compare to see the changes over time. Looking at the "Daily Usage for the Month of October, it only lists hits for today, even though I'm looking at the window for the whole month of Oct.

All the other days of the month show zero hits.

It's as though the logs are being cleaned out every day.

Same last month.

I need better information.

(FWIW--I also use an outside service, iWebtrack, for my main tracking, but Webalizer gives me the abilty to track the hits on a specific image. I include it in an email newsletter and I can tell how many times it's been opened)
