I think this is going to be a worthless section of the shed...

Hey,

I actually think it will be a good section and a good opportunity for developers. Smartphone development is a huge business and is only going to continue to grow; to ignore it as a viable marketplace, and to ignore legitimate resources that help you enter that marketplace, seems like a bad business plan.

At the end of the day, this section will be good or bad depending on one thing: whether people contribute good material to it, and I have faith that DevShed members will do just that!

Quite true. I'm wondering myself though why the sole focus is Blackberry without any consideration of iPhone, Palm, or Android ...

Myself I'm an iPhone addict :-P

Hey, thats a good question. At the moment we are running a series of BlackBerry Development articles on DevShed, which we tied in with this forum topic. The series will be running over the next month or so, so for now we are focusing on that.

Totally understand that. Linking the articles to forums is good, it might be overkill to have five, but I understand the logic. Let it play for a while but you might get better traffic and regular members using just one or two blackberry forums, then adding the other platforms and making a "smart phone" dev section. There currently is a mobile development forum (http://forums.devshed.com/mobile-programming-20/) of course I see some iPhone questions in there, but it might be good to give them all their own space and fair play. Just a suggestion :-)
