Query on Top Navigation Bar IV

I have a query about the dynamic drive script 'Top Navigation bar IV'. It looks great! However, on my browser, the drop down links come down BEHIND the banner which is directly underneath, making some of them unreadable. WHy is this, and can I change it? I am using a P133 running Windows 95, and using Internet Explorer 5.

This seems to happen with the older versions of the script, except the first version.

G'day Neuromancer..

I noticed the same problems on some test pages I did on that navbar script, some time back too. I will be interested to see what the techis have to say, also.

Cheers!
KB...

Strangely enough, after writing my post, I went back and tried it again and it worked perfectly! I am not sure why this is, or if it would function properly all the time.

Hmmm... and exactly how did you hold your mouth? LOL

Good onya matey!

First, you're talking about the HV menu, right?

2nd, take anything I say with SEVERAL grains of salt, as I'm very new to all this....

I've noticed the same problem on some pages on my site, and like you said, it doesn't happen all the time.

I use javascript In-line frames to display small photo albums on a page. The only thing I ever see displayed on top of my HV submenus is the menu bar for the In-line albums--which leads me to believe this is a conflict between the two scripts.

This may help you isolate the problem, but what to do about it???

...Ask me next year! Maybe I'll have learned more by then!

Well, I haven't even tried the script on my site yet. I was just noticing what it did on this site where it is demonstrated.
I was just wondering whether it was 'safe' to use.

I've had it for a couple weeks, and I really like it. No problems so far. (It's very unforgiving of even minor scripting errors, though)

I've used it and it works great! But, I have come across the very same problem with the menu's sub-menus showing up behind any images that are close to it. So, I just put my images where they're not near the menu......works out better if you don't have your menu in "static" mode.

hi,
most likely, if this is a third party ad banner, then it was using flash. and layers will always be behind a flash plug-in. ads changes from time to time using animated gif to flash so that might of been the case.

Good point there, Speed...

Speedracer:

There are no banners on my site, and the only thing ever on top my submenus is the IFrame title bar.

Isn't it logical to think it's a conflict between the two scripts?

Is there any way in which layers can be ordered?

there is a stacking order to layers or by using z-index style.
