Can games be written in Flex alone?

I can't seem to find ANY sample games -- especially those which use keyboard input -- with source files that end EXCLUSIVELY in MXML and AS.

In other words, I don't want to see .FLA files, since I can't do squat with them.

I have Flex 3.0 SDK installed, and I'm content to write programs in a nuts-and-bolts manner. I don't really want Adobe's fancy IDE, since I'm a programmer and used to writing programs with text.

But the free Flex compiler can't do anything with a .FLA file -- and I certainly can't look inside it to see what it's doing. So I can't learn much from Adobe's two examples (Maze and Amoebas).

I found one breakout clone, but it doesn't use keyboard input.

I agree that Flex has a very steep learning curve!

You can easily port AS3 games into flex

I've attempted to make a game myself in FLEX I actually got pretty far so yes it is possible. My approach was a bit weird but I have seen games done in FLEX.

Heres a game builder made in FLEX which creates the games that people can then play. http://s3.amazonaws.com/apphost/MGB.html

Check out http://www.brighthub.com/internet/web-development/articles/11010.aspx. It shows you step by step how to create a game in flex.
