Our client one of the biggest builders in the UK are looking for an exceptional Perl developer to join their team. The successful candidate will have strong Commercial exposure to Perl Development in your last few projects. You will need to be very hands-on, be able to hit the ground running and work to tight deadlines. This position will best suit someone who can manage their own work schedule and work under minimal supervision.

We are looking for a self-motivated Perl Developer with a minimum of 3+ year's commercial Perl development experience.

Essential skills, knowledge and attributes:

Perl
Object-oriented Perl, DBI
Complex data structure handling
Performance analysis and optimization
Debugging techniques
Regular expressions

PostrgreSQL/Oracle
An understanding of database setup and table design
Database and table maintenance
Indexing, Query analysis and optimization

Linux
Basic command line knowledge
Back End systems running on Linux

Good communication skills in written and spoken English is a must.

Desirable skills, knowledge and attributes
Experience and knowledge in the following areas
XML technologies
Web development techniques such as HTML, CSS, HTTP, XML, DNS and JavaScript
Version control with CVS/RCS or similar systems
Perl Web development with frameworks such as Template Toolkit
Unix Shell Scripting
24/7 mission critical systems and full software life cycle
