page download size

I have a specific issue I'd like feedback on:
http://www.adelleabney.com/portfolio/websites.html

The page has a lot of images, and it can take some time to download. I don't really want to change the visual design of the page - all of our other portfolios are done the same way, and it is relatively easy to expand, which is important - but as the portfolio expands this will become a serious issue... so I'm up for ideas.

Thanks!
Sarah

I guess cause I'm on a T1 line, it's pretty darn fast to me.

As for reducing the size . . . you could change all those images that are just words (like the menu at the top) and make them text instead.

You could also combine all those images at the bottom of the screen into 1 image and use an image map.

Now, having said that, I believe that page looks great the way it is and loads fast already. I'll try it on my cable modem when I get home.

Something else you might consider is using less of the javascript and make more static pages, each devoted to a single site, but have your navigation to continue along the bottom. Doing that, you could reduce the larger images loaded down to one per page. You could also reduce each site image at the bottom to just a text blurb if you felt appropriate.

Past all that though, I had the same experience as torrin, it loads fast and looks very nice. Same problem though, being on a T1 skews speed testing a little so I can't give a fair judgement on how it would look for people still stuck on dial-up.
