Quick question for all of you out there. I'm trying to come up with some new products to put onto my website, so I'm going to turn to you to find out some suggestions. I run the website http://www.seriousoutdoorgear.com/, and I've already got 350+ products up and online in about nine different categories. But here is my question, what would you buy online that was outdoors oriented? If you'd like, please take a look at the site, and give me some suggestions, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks.

I'm not an outdoor enthusiast but will give the site a look and let you know what I think if anything.
Well I did a browse of your site and the only thing I could think of would be manybe adding a line of products for the "Extreme" group of folks. I do not know what products you have available to you but could you offer thing like dirt bikes, climbing gear and such. Kind of along the same line Rafting equipment.
When I think of Outdoor Gear the above is what came to mind. I also think you could offer equipment for Fishermen.
Just my thoughts.
Also one "design" note. I would change the info text on your main board to not be Italic. It was a bit hard for me to read.
Overall I like the look of your site and for me things loaded pretty fast. I think we looked at your page before... did I mention I would like to see the Search on each page? Ok enough critique... hope the ideas for sales gives you the feedback you where looking for.

How did you design the front-end of your site?
It looks great. I'm curious what you use to produce the product pages.
I don't know anything about outdoor equipment, so I decided to search google for outdoor store (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q=outdoor+store) to see what other people are offering. By the way, you have lots of competition, I'd love to hear some of the things you did to have your store stand out. But's lets not get off topic. Some of the things I see are sun glasses, bikes, water filters (I don't know if this is the same as hydration systems), etc. You should click that link above and see.
Secondly, my in-laws like the outdoors. There is a strong boyscout and girlscout presence in the family. I'll have to direct them to your site. I can't promise sells though. :)
Well you don't have pest repellants or battery operated bug zappers if they make such a thing.

I appreciate all of the comments and replies. The product ideas were great, if anyone else reads these posts, please keep adding to this list. I always enjoy getting feedback and such.
I would like to answer some of the questions, that were asked in the previous posts.
1. How did you design the front-end of your site?
I honestly am a hardcore hard coder. I love to program for websites and such. I always use HTML-Kit - and excellent program for manual coding HTML. Everything you see on my site, was hard coded by myself. I use Miva but only for the shopping cart. Everything else is static. Admittedly it's a big tough to keep up on, however the results coming from the search engines are worth the hassle. I have tried and used Frontpage and Dreamweaver. But they were unable to format the code and design the page like I wanted, so I've hard coded ever since, and always gotten the results I have wanted. So I think I'll stay with it.

My one critique of your webpage coding is you declare it as HTML 4.01 Transitional yet only use the class and style keywords once. The remainder is all deprecated attributes like topmargin=0. I would at least expect it to be more mixed. It seems for the most part you're misleading the browser into thinking it's HTML 4 when really it's HTML 3. Maybe I'm jumping the gun and it's work in progress :-)
