Processing sales manually with Miva

I tried to setup Miva Merchant but I process my sales manually with a credit card terminal in my shop and I would like to keep it like that.

Does anyone have any insite if this is possible? Can I have my old simple and antique shopping cart still running simultaneously, until I have confidence that my Miva Cart is working correctly?

Hi Gicco,

I'm not done configuring my Miva yet, but know for a fact you can continue to use your physical terminal. When you configure miva, just don't set up a processor gateway, since you don't need one. Miva can collect and encrypt the cc information when a user places an order. When you go through your Miva set up it will ask you for an encryption phrase to use for the encryption. You'll use the encyption phrase to access the orders and cc info. Hope this helps.

Yes it is possible to Setup Miva to just collect the Customer orders so that you can process it offline. To do this you would need to select and configure " Credit Card Payment With Simple Validation" This can be done in the Payment configuration of Miva. And as daddy has explained you can also use the encryption phrase to encrypt the order information. (but don't forget the password) :D

You should also be able to continue to use your current shopping cart until you are ready to make the switch to your Miva store.

Yes, you can use your existing terminal. depending on the
service that you have, make your settings to authorize only
then run their card.

Heres some Miva merchant info that helped me learn more
about the ins and outs of the program:

:D Thanks for your input.

I setup the Miva Merchant for authorize only on Credit Cards but the Card information is not sent to my PC. I have to go to my admin page to obtain card info. and expiry date. Can I set Miva to send me all the info so I don't have to go through so much hassle to process the cards in my office?

It may be possible, but not with a default installation of Miva. You would need to look for a module to allow you to do this, although you may have trouble finding one as most people would be rather uncomfortable buying stuff from you if they knew their credit information was being emailed around. Places to look for modules that we would recommend are http://www.mvcool.com and http://www.vikingcoders.com.
