Some questions regarding reseller package

I'm thinking to buy a reseller package and move my corrent starter accounts into reseller. I can handle the moving myself, so it shouldn't be any big problem to switch to reseller. But I would like to go more detail before actually make decision:

1. How many IPs does the reseller3 have?
2. Does site manager come up with each VPS or each account (in case several accounts created in one VPS)? Can site manager be customized with private branding?
3. For a reseller package, is the shared SSL based on reseller's primary domain name or still based on Westhost's domain name?

Thanks

Alex Shi

1) I think you are still only getting 1 IP based account and then the other 19 VPS's are named base. I have never been real clear on that one. At one time WH let you pay an extra buck if you wanted a name base account to be IP based but not sure if they still offer that.

2) Site manager would come up with each VPS although just like with your current account if you create a user they get thier own mini Site Manager. If you want to take it beyound that you would have to figure out your own cutomization of a VPS that you want to host more accounts on. With the current set up when you create an account it uses one of your VPS. Site Manager is custimizable but it is not very userfriendly and you can only customize it so much. The default well remove the WestHost branding and replace it with generic images.

Not sure about you last question maybe someone else can shed light on that one.

That is how it is set up for my account but I am on the level one reseller account and my set up was a transfer from old accounts and things are a bit different on mine. I actually have two IP based accounts since I had upgraded before I moved to a reseller account. Also with mine I did not have to move the accounts. WestHost transferred them over. Not sure they still do that might be just as easy to move it yourself. I have done that also with a couple accounts I have added since first moveing.

Hi Wildjokerdesign,

Thanks for your great answers! You mentioned in answer 2 that "... although just like with your current account if you create a user they get thier own mini Site Manager." - What is the mini site manager? I didn't realize there's such a thing available. Could you please tell me more about it?

For the last question: say WH give you a shared SSL, the url can be like this - https://ssl4.westserver.net/order.html. My question is, if I was a reseller, could I use my domain name to create a shared SSL account and provide it to my clients, something like https://ssl1.mydomain.com/ ?

Thanks.

Alex

With a regular account if you go in and create a email/FTP user then they have a Site Manager that is available to them. You can access it from your main Site Manager by clicking on the username or they access it by going to yourdomain.com/users/ It only has the email and account overview sections that are in your main Site Manager.

Under email they can do forwards and autoreplies if you enable them and then in the overview just basic account usage they don't have all the other sections like Apps and such.

On your last question it may be possible but I am just not familiar with that stuff and don't use it. It does seem that it has been discussed before but who knows if the post are still around and I think it was a while back. Hopefully someone from WH well stop by and be able to answer that one better or a user that has worked with it.

Thanks!
