Indexing images

Hi

I am designing an art website, and would like to be able to search for the photos via different methods: artist, category...

Is there a way of doing this using HTML and Javascript. Perhaps, if I put the keywords into all the alt tags, the javascript could read the alt tag, and then display all the images that have the particular keyword in the alt tag.

Can anyone help please?

just a goodluck® :O)))

Hi Allyson,

Just to give you another option/idea other than searching your site. You might want to take a look at this script:

http://www.javascriptkit.com/script/script2/dcombotext.shtml

And/Or

http://www.javascriptkit.com/script/cut183.shtml

Using the double combo you could use one drop down box for the Artist name and the other for the category (or something to that effect). For example, you could have Artist "X" on the left and on the right it would let the user choose various works by that artist from the right. Just thought the suggestion was worth mentioning, although it may not be something you're interested in or practical for your site. Good luck ;).

Hi

Thank-you for your responses.

Another similar ?

If I was to click the "Landscape" category to bring up all the "Landscape" paintings what would be the best method of creating this:

1) Creating an html page which have all the landscape images displayed, or

2)Selects all the landscape paintings by matching keywords. Is it possible to add keywords to an image,

How would art.com index there images? and is it possible on Client Side webdesign?
