E-Newsletter for HTML and Text recipients

Any ideas on how to code a dual html/text document? We have a database of subscribers, some of which are unable to receive HTML email. We want to give them a plain text version without having to do two separate mailings. I know it can be done, and I've read articles talking about it, but I need the CODE! What code do you use to get the right version (HTML vs. text) to the recipient, where do you place the code? Where does the text version go?

I have received feedback from several test recipients that the internal links aren't working. The cursor changes to a hand, but doesn't go anywhere when they click. So far this happens only in Lotus Notes and Outlook 2000. Otherwise, all others received the email very well.

hi!

do you find the code / app to differentiate between users of HTML clients vs. text-only clients?

thanks!

Haven't solved this yet.

where have you read that you can send one document and it will format itself for either TEXT or HTML recips. I send newsletters (to both text and html clients) on a weekly basis and other than doing some sniffing I can't tell who's who. I would really like to read the articles that you are speaking of.

Plus, how are you sending the emails from your email client, a script (web application) or some program??
