Netscape 6x and Win XP Pro

I have read that Netscape 6x browsers and windows XP professional do not get along but this is ridiculous. Just bought a new system (xp pro) and i'm trying to install all my testing browsers. For NS 6 every time I try to run installation it hangs up and cannot be completed. Mozilla 1.0 installed without incident as did NS 4.08 so far (K-Meleon my favorite also no problems).

Has any one ever heard similar stories and what was done to correct it?

On a similar note I was able to have both IE4 and IE5.5 installed on my old system. However when I try to install any IE older than 6 (from old disks) setup will not allow it. Any one know how to get around that? I did it before but can't remember how.

Thanks for your time.

If you have Mozilla 1.0 or greater, that covers for NS7, and if you have K-meleon (a new release hasn't been out forever, therefore having an old Gecko engine much like NS6), it suffices for testing NS6.

Cool, so I don't need to install NS 6?
My version of k-meleon is 0.6 build 547.
It's annoying that I can't install NS6.2 none the less. Thanks for your input.

i remember downloading the NS6 and trying to install it hangs up and finally after several tries and even its installed, it would freeze. but i got hold of a NS6 disc and no problem what so ever from the disc version. this browser works really well in my XP.

Really - great!
I'll try to get a disc copy and install it that way.
Thanks a lot!
