Download PM in mbox Format

Download PM in mbox Format
This Hack allows you to download your PMs in mbox Format (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mbox).
mbox is a native UN*X mail format and can be read by many eMail-Clients.

It was requested by one of my members some time ago, and as I had to port it for vB 3.5 anyway in preparation for the Update, I thought it might be useful for others too, so here you are.

There is not much to see, but as I know you guys always want screenshots - even those are there :D

Please only click Install if you actually have installed/are using this Hack, and click Uninstall whan you don't use it any longer!

I'm sure a couple of my users will be glad of this, thanks for sharing.. :)

Oops! :)

Should update this to a Product XML ...I did this since I'm working on my test board anyway.. ;)

This hack might help me to import private messages of users to the email service :)

Worked like a charm, thx!

I use Eudora, so need to do one more conversion from MBOX --> eudora .mbx files. I attached a small utility that I found that does just that.

Seems to be working great, users are able to easily download their PM's and import into their email client of choice. Thanks!

The resulting emails often look weird, though. Any way to incorporate strip_bbcode or preg_replace? Maybe just to strip out certain tags, like [IMG] (as that screws up the clickable links,) or [b] or [i] since they don't work well in an email client?

I'd leave [quote] around, or better yet convert quoted lines to:
>something like this
...since that (as well as [post] are necessary to communicate context.)

Other than that though, any way to somehow clean up the messages for their journey from vB to an email client would be greatly appreciated.

Is there a 3.6 version of this?

Existing version still works fine in 3.6.4 for me...

I can't seem to find the private_messagelist template anywhere. Do you really mean pm_messagelist?

Yeah, the template name changed in 3.6.x
I just followed the instructions but replaced private_messagelist with pm_messagelist, and it seems to work fine.
