if i set the character name to a name thats another username on the forum it shows 0/0 (and really messed up stats). there should be an error check to see if the name is in use. just drove me nuts trying to figure out what was wrong with one of the people on the forum
Could you be more specific as to where exactly this happens?
Because I just checked the postbit on my dev server, and I cannot verify.
Besides, checking RPG Name against usernames would involve a full scan of the user table (which in its own is unacceptable) EVERY TIME an user updates his RPG Name.
i realize that. in the headquarters where you can input another username for your character. i put in a name that was another users name(my test acct) and it would only show 0/0(on the rpgcp page) but when i changed it to something different that wasnt in use it worked fine.
Well I just entered rpgcp on my test server and it shows the stats fine.
Maybe this is one of those local problems that will either solve itself over time, or in a future version. These have happened about 3 times in recorded history, one of which being on my own forum (sorta embarrassing, but meh ;)).
The best solution I can offer is tell your members that this might be the solution, if any of them is slammed by this, sorry :(
