Different Smilie Issue

Q: When looking at my smilies/emoticons in vBChat, they appear as red x's, what can i do?

A: Go to your Admin CP, then to vBChat options, look under Emoticon Options, you will find the option "Smile problem?", set this to yes and your problem should be resolved.
This is not the issue I'm seeing. What's happening for me is that it looks like image replacement simply isn't happening. The "Text to Replace" gets posted, instead of the image ....

I tried using the smile option anyways, but that didn't fix the issue.

Any thoughts?

Care to be a little more specific? I can't exactly understand what you mean, perhaps what you do in steps, or a screenshot is handy :)

yea sure, its not parsing smilies, it parses html links just fine. It posts the text of the smile, such as :smily:

Do you have bbcode enabled in the vBChat options?

Yes I do, I even took out that check in the code and made sure it did it all the time to see if that was the case. And the links parse just fine.

Hmm, weird, what installation of vBulletin do you have? And did any other modifications modify the emoticon parser?

vb 3.0.7, and I have not done anything to the functions_bbcodeparse.php.

I figured it... the way you have your bbcode setup, is it uses the 'nonforum' settings in the bbcode functions and that case uses the "allow smileys in signature" setting. That must be enabled for the smileys to work. Easy fix would be to just add in a new case for your vbchat and point the allow/disallow to your vbchat option. Then just take out that whole check in vbchat.php and allow the bbcode functions to perfor the checks for you. Just an idea ;)

That's exactly it. I enabled smilies in sigs, and now the chat smilies display just fine.
