swoosh help please

Sorry if this is a basic question....

How does one create a swoosh (Like Nike has) please.

Thanks in advance

Tonz

There's probably a better way, but here's how I just create the below nikesque swoosh:

1) use the pen tool and create the bottom line of your swoosh, the pen/bexier tool is weird, basically click, move the mouse to the second point then click and drag to get the desired curve.

2) point one will give you a layer mask, rasterize this.

3) now create the upper line of the swoosh on a new layer using a different colour.

4) rasterize the upper layer, merge down and use the magic wand to select the odd block created in point 3)

5) touch up any bad bits by hand :D

NB: using Photoshop 7.0 btw ;)

That's a bit complicated for a simple shape.

Photoshop 7
1) Create new layer
2) Fill with desired color
3) MENU Layer » Add Vector Mask » Hide All
4) Use pen tool to create swoosh shape

No disrespect mouse, but this is a much better way.

Inserting a picture

And attaching the PSD (Photoshop 7)

A four point curve. Took me 60 seconds.

Thanks everyone - you guys are D'a bomb.

I will give it a try.

Sorry i forgot to mention I have PhotoShop 7

Thanx again

I think Beetle's method is easier, mine just uses the mask in a backwards and more complicated manner. :o

Well, not only is it easier, but it's more flexible! With my method you get an infinitely resizable vector shape!
