Should I consider buying Macrodmedia Fireworks MX?

I AM STUMPED!
I am new with imaging, and this program makes imaging really easy for me! I am currently only using the trial version of this program though.Although I love this program, it is quite expensive, and I am very new with creating graphics. I do not know if it would be good for my level and I do not really feel like buying a $300 dollar program, that does not meet my needs as an amatuer. Should I buy this, Yes or No? Poll at top of page to vote! Thank you for any suggestions on this!

I said yes, but it would be a good idea to try other shareware/trial programs before buying it.

Also, it depend on what do you want it for (web design, photo retouch, ...)

Well, I am going to use the images for Web design, I thought I should start doing that a while ago cuz my pages looked plain w/ out it. But I never started, until now.

Xphp, pirating software is the same as stealing. While it may seem less wrong than walking into a Walmart and shoplifting, it is still ultimately the same thing.

And whether or not you prescribe to that philisophy, the TOS of these forums do.

As for purchasing FlashMX... are you a student of some sort? Often times there are student discounts for such software, and sometimes significant ones (like with Adobe software).

i know my post was a little bad.

well since you are a student like jkd sed u can get a discount
mabey your school may have the program or one such as photoshop i know my school does and if you ask they can sell you a copy or let your borrow one. just to try it out so don't look at my first post
i think i shoud delete it

I would say yes, it seems to create better optimised files than photoshop. I have them both and i tend to use photoshop for design and fireworks for the optimisation, though the difference between the two for optimisation is marginal..

a little side question, for those of you who do use fireworks, have you noticed that it seems to handle large amounts of text badly? it seems to scoff my system resources and runs really slow when large amounts of text are involved.. (as compared to photoshop etc). - or perhaps my system is too pants. ;)

I'd buy it, maybe get a student license if possible, that way you can get the whole MX suite for peanuts. Flash is really fun program to explore and has endless possibilities.

Using my student discount I got Macromedia's Studio MX suite (Dreamweaver MX, Fireworks MX, Flash MX and Freehand MX) for $200 in my campus bookstore. Can probably find it cheaper at wholesale outlets that also offer student discounts.

US students can get 3Dstudio Max for $400.

*ahem* Spookster [nudge, nudge / wink, wink] ;)

If you are using it for purely images, I wouldn't buy it. Buy firework or photoshop. But if you want a pretty easy way to do anamation. Flash is it. I personally love it. I am still learning but it is so cool. My latest project is a valentine I made for today. If you want to check it out you can. It takes a while to load but I think it is still cool. Not for guys they will think it is cheezy. You can always e-mail the link to your wives or girlfriends.
