Hi; im having a problem making a gear image in flash mx... i first make the circle then the problem is making the indented parts perfectly equal around the circle... is there a flash tool to help with this?

Do you want it to be animated also?
If not, use something like Photoshop and draw it in there and copy it into Flash MX, as everything is significantly easier in Photoshop.
However, if you are thinking of making it animated, then I suggest that you use a vector design program, e.g. Swift 3D (http://www.swift3d.com) which will let you create something like a gear somewhat easily.
That is the best advice I can give, but also, you can draw a slice of a gear, and reflect and rotate it around to give you a mirrored effect.

Knock yourself out -- I saved it as illustrator 6 so you can import it properly:
...whoops, how I did it:
make a circle in illustrator (large)
Make two smaller circles, placed them centered on the top and bottom with middle alignment
While they're selected, double click your rotate tool and select 45 or 22.5 degrees, hit copy -- repeat.
Select all the smaller circles and combine them, then using pathfinder, cut them out of the bottom circle.
For the squared off ones, replace the smaller circle with a square that has extra points on the sides (to keep the angle perfect from the middle), and move the bottom right and left nodes in at an exact measurement (go to your preferences, change the nudge to something small, select the nodes and just click your left or right arrow key according to need).
I use flash, but I couldn't remember if it had the rotate feature the same, so I just did it in illustrator while it's open. Essentially, probably close to the same thing. However, this is why I just use flash for animation/actionscript and build in illustrator, my own weakness :)
