Can I dupe my ISP with an Anonymous Proxy Server?

Hi, I read about Anonymous Proxy Servers in here (http://www.proxy4free.com/tips.html) and now I know that they're gonna keep my IP and personal info and ... Now this question comes to mind: By entering the Proxy IP and their port into the IE or NS Internet Options, can I also dupe my ISP and I can for example view the sites that they banned me to see? ( like porno sites :D )

I personally do not think that it be possible, because my address first goes to my personal ISP, but well, I said let's ask it!

Yeah I think so - all you're doing is requesting files from a public proxy; your ISP never gets to know what the proxy routes you onto. So providing it doesn't block your proxy's IP, and providing the URLs and file transfers are encrypted so that they can't be reverse-extrapolated or retrieved from an intermediate proxy cache, then your ISP will never know the difference. afaik.

But more to the point - your ISP blocks legal sites?? That's completely unacceptable; nevermind the morality of the content, which is nobody's business but yours.

I suggest you move to a different ISP.

Thank you borthercake, theoretically what we are saying is right, i.e. they shouldn't find out where I'm going, but I still couldn't find a proxy to do that. I tried some of the proxies in the above link ( www.proxy4free.com ) but I was still banned. I'm gonna check some other proxies and also I have something else in my mind:

Writing a server side program that works with sockets, when I enter the URL in the text box, it opens the site by fsockopen ( like PHP ) and then outputs the data to the browser. In this way, my proxy never understands what I'm viewing! Also I can rewrite all the links of that site to be the query string of my own page, like if my page is called fakeProxy.php then by entering fakeProxy.php?ABannedSite.com/something.html, my page grabs the query string and opens the socket for it! So, you see I need to replace all the links of a given banned page to this format and then whenever I click on them they work. Well, just a thought in my mind that I'll bring to reality one day ( soon! ). Thanks God that I know these stuff! What's your idea?

About your question: I'm living in a country called Iran ( pronounced as eerun ), but sometimes ppl refer to it as I ran!! It's a country that some clerics are in charge, they think whatever is bad shouldn't be heard, viewed. They allow themselves to censor whatever they want, because they are clergies. So, our TV is banned, our newspapers are banned, the only thing that's free is Telephone and Internet! And it's because they don't have the power of censoring it ( yet! ). Well, I'm living in this environment and it's what our superiors are allowed to do: Thinking and taking decision for ppl. Well, I know that it looks stupid ( Another Taliban you could say ), but it is what it is. So, I'm just trying to do what I like to do as a person and it is something that makes me different in here! They are lots of ppl who understand and are fighting this, so, we hope one day we can have our freedom back, till that day everyone tries. Didn't you ever wonder why you don't see many Iranians online and in different forums? Because we're lagged behind, they don't want us to learn these things!

Ok, I rambled enough, you just asked one simple question, my simple answer would be: It's not unacceptable in here!

Have fun,
bijan

Don't worry - the internet can't be censored. TCP/IP interprets censorship as damage, and routes around it.

Which isn't to say the powers that be can't make it very difficult for you to circumvent, but ultimately, they will fail.

So your problem is that the IP of the proxy server itself is banned by your ISP? Have you tried http://www.anonymizer.com - it's not free, but it's reasonably cheap.

Well, I'll check it out, thank you. And I'm sure that they'll fail one day.
About my ISP, they're so dumb that I don't think they even know the meaning of an IP :D I'm sure they're using some programs to track their users and these are the programs that know the Anonymous IPs and stop them.

Happy new year! ( Today was the beginning our new year! A persian year has just started!! )

PS: You didn't say your idea about the socket program that I said!

That's because I don't know. Ask in the PHP forum about that, I'm sure there'll be people who can help.

Happy new year to you too :)

Another good one is www.megaproxy.com you have to pay for it if you want to be able to submit forms and there is a transfer limit per day on the free version.

I've little info on this subject but be careful. If the ISP is blocking sites based on the governments policy then going around the bloackage might not be the best idea. Just a thought.

Thanx for the help. Dear mouse, I don't think that it has a problem, they just don't want ppl see the contents, they don't track those who do!

have fun,
bijan

Edit: that megaproxy looks great, thank you!

So it's like censorship by obfuscation - it's only effective because most people don't know how to circumvent it, but they're not that bothered if you do?

Damn! They don't let me use their free service! they said since iranian visitors do not click on the adds that much, we can't afford letting them use this free service, that is basically running on our adds money! Oh my God, is there anyway I can dupe my damn ip?!!!!!! :D

I even tried some proxies of www.proxy4free.com, but it seems they still can see my real IP. I even tested it in my own php script to see if my IP was really changed after using a anonymous proxy( $_SERVER["REMOTE_ADDR"] ), but it wasn't! What do they say that it really works?

Exactly, I don't think that they even check who hustles the system ( at this case ). Well, they're much affraid of ppl getting deviated from Islamic issues! :D

You talking about megaproxy?

Try daisy chaining one proxy from another.

Yup, I'm talkin' about megaproxy!
