PAYING JOB: need custom cursor: shower or trailing

Just referred to this site...just registered. Thank you, John, Dynamicdrive.com for referral.

1) Would like price for and approximate completion date for custom cursor for use in my eBay listings and my homepage on AOL.COM

I have image. Would like shower effect or trailing effect.

I make simple websites for myself and am only experienced in things that I can put on Using Netscape. Usually IE 5+ doesn't have trouble, but sometimes they do. Mostly I've discovered Netscape has difficulty with things written for IE.

I've never created a javascript.
2) Do I need extra coaching if javascripting is how this is accomplished?

3) Please contact me at [email protected] with price and completion estimate.

ALL RESPONSES WILL BE ACKNOWLEDGED, even if offer is not accepted. It's only right and polite to acknowledge all responses.

NOTE: with AOL's new Version 9.0 irritating message filters, if you do not receive a reply within 24 hours, please post reply here and I'll contact you. I may have to add you to my "address book" for your messages to arrive in my AOL inbox.

Also,
4) Advise at time of quotation if you accept PayPal cash payment.

Thank you.

THis is nothing to pay for. DO not pay anyone for a simple scripts such as this. You can find scripts for these at sites such as Javascriptkit (http://www.javascriptkit.com) and Dynamic Drive (http://www.dynamicdrive.com)

You just have to look around a little better for them. :D

BTW, javascript is how you would acomplish this... but if youre doing it for a professional site (selling something on ebay), I wouldnt really do it... you can do it, but whenever I go to a site that does that, it just annoys me. Especially a professional site. It looks somewhat... N00bish.

<EDIT>

here are a few links you could use to do this:

There is no way to completely cross browser change the image on a users cursor tho, and as I said, this is not recommended. Of course, if you are determined to change the cursor on at least IE and older browsers, go to the sites I told you....

Even if somone custom coded this for you, which they won't, it still wouldn't be worth the money. Just find one that suits your needs on the internet as l6vi said and you should be good. :)

your response did not address my needs.

I do NOT want a generic trailing effect, I want a specific trailing effect. If I'm willing to pay any of those who responded privately, in this rip snorting capitalistic system in which I live and breathe, why should I content myself with scripting "everyone else has access to?"

It would appear you do not grasp the basic fundamentals of target marketing.

Thank you for your response, however...it's better than a loud echo emanating from my own voice in a 25' ceiling stone mausoleum. :D

You clearly outpaced the heavy favorite race horse by more than a nose...check out the response to "i" person who also publically (yes that is spelled correctly) chided me like some snot-nosed 3 year old. :D

Dear i person:

I'm offended by your simplistic and chiding answer. Just because you are a coding geek doesn't mean I am.

I bet you can't mine gold either, and yet I didn't insult you with both the detail and specificity of my request.

Allow me to elaborate:
In my first sentence, I THANKED John from Dynamic Drive for the referral to this CF forum. DUH

Now would that not imply to the basic simpleton that
A) I had been to the Dynamic Drive site, and
B) DID NOT FIND what I needed, and
C) had written John from the Dynamic Drive website to seek specific customization advice, and
D) had heard back from John personally by email without patronizing insults I might add, and
E) took his advice to come here and seek PAID assistance?

The result of your reply is too pedantrian to bother with. Time is money, and you've wasted about $400 of my time with your suggestion I try harder.

I suggest you try harder to master basic comprehension skills.

I did promise a response within 24 hours...it's been 26 hours for you to receive yours...so shoot me.

OH...and guess where you can "go to...." :p

Everyone offered a response, regardless if it answered your question to the full, in an appropriate manner. Keep your responses to that same level.

As time is money, you've now wasted mine by having to read this rant, and ask you politely to keep your demeaning comments to yourself.

Prospector,

You can consider this an official warning. You will read and abide by our forum rules. If you can't then you won't be a part of our forum for very long.

http://www.codingforums.com/rules.htm

1.1) Always be respectful and polite when posting- There is absolutely no excuse to be rude, confrontational, or hostile when posting on CodingForums.com. This is a place where web programmers come together to solve problems, not create them. Flaming can get you banned.

check out the response to "i" person who also publically (yes that is spelled correctly) chided me like some snot-nosed 3 year old. :D
You're not a 3 year old. You'r 2. At the most.

I3vi would probably even have created this for free, and so would many other here. His answer is completely acceptable and he's right.

Although some of us are not real Gods (some of us in fact just have a few decades of coding experience), we do have quite some feeling with what 's done and not done in webdesign.
And we are quite knowledgable about what's required for such tasks and how much time it would take to write something cross browser, from scratch + how pointless it would be to reinvent the wheel (it migh surprise you, but the most skilled coders are usualy the ones that use the most 3° party code, because we know a good script when we see one, and we know where to look for them and we don't have the time to write everything oureselves and we don't have such an ego that all our code should be homemade)

It's quite obvious that you have absolutely no experience with webdevelopment. No shame there.
But opinions like

why should I content myself with scripting "everyone else has access to?"
are realy hilarious. As soon as the first user request your webpage (that's a geeky way of saying : "as soon as someone hits a link to your website"), your precious script will be something "everyone else has access to?". Whoops ! There goes all that exclusive code.

You might not be able to laugh with this, but it surely made me smile.

Man, it would be easy moneymaking if there were more guys like you around. And the best thing is : if some nice scriptkiddy comes along and tries to make it clear that there is no need to pay for something like that, then you're starting to flame them!
Great ! You're absolutely spitting in the faces of well meaning, helpfull coders, that would otherwise spoil the market with their free advice (and believe me, free coding if you would only ask and show some appreciation for there effort). No danger there ! You've got the perfect attitude to keep all knowledgable and helpful people away.

If i may paraphrase
It would appear you do not grasp the basic fundamentals of freeware, web communitys, 'open source' ideology and helping out.

Anyway, you can't prevent people from buying hot air, so i'll leave you alone.

Ok, I'm going to take both sides here for a moment. To start off, I think the reason for Prospector's frustration was that he already knows scripts of this nature can be found for free, such as on Dynamic Drive. In fact, he had visited DD before posting here. What Prospector was asking for was a customization of one of such scripts for his specific needs, and he was willing to pay for this service. Responses telling him he can find mouse trail scripts for free misses his point and only repeats what he already knows. His work offer involves customizing a script, not whether such scripts in general are free. This is a paid offers forum, and if he's willing to pay for a service done, that constitutes a valid thread here.

Having said that, I agree Prospector was rude in his clarification on the above point, which isn't acceptable.

I'm going to close this thread. If anyone still wishes to take on Prospector's offer, please PM him, and work out a deal. Make sure you understand exactly his needs, and that you're able to meet them, obviously.
