Can You Cut Files Into Pieces?

If I open a file, such as a .mp3 in Notepad, and cut that .txt file into 6 or 7 pieces...and send them individually to someone....can that person then put those back into one .txt file, change the format back to .mp3, and the file play?
Would that work?

a friend passed me this program
Katarn corp's File Kutter
its small. freeware. you just open it. select file to split.. upload or mail... and tell folks where to get. they will also need Katarn corp's File Kutter to put it back together....
KFK is file name... Katarncorp.com has it.. free..

easy to do.. good luck

Thank you.:)

You might want to try somewthign a little more universal. WinRAR and WinACE are used quite often. Try making them exe's so the users don't need any programs to rebuild them. WinRAR supports RAR and ZIP and is able to unpack CAB, ARJ, LZH, TAR, GZ, ACE, UUE, BZ2, JAR and ISO archives, while WinACE supports ACE, ZIP, LHA, MS-CAB, JAVA JAR and can extract ACE, ZIP, LHA, MS-CAB, RAR, ARC, ARJ, GZip, TAR, ZOO and JAR.

Thank you, very helpful.:D

And the benefit of RARing the file is that you can break it up into specificly sized files, so (for example) you could break the file up into 20 pieces that are all small enough to fit on floppies...but we won't be talking about the obvious application of this process here
