Can I use ASP/ASP.NET?

Is there any way I can use ASP/ASP.NET without "IIS"?

There is the ASP.NEt Casssini web server (http://www.asp.net/Projects/Cassini/Download/Default.aspx?tabindex=0&tabid=1) available for download at the url provided. This web server needs the .Net framework installed and will run on Win2K and WinXP. This is a FREE download.

Then to develop ASP.Net applications there is the Microsoft ASP.NET Web Matrix (http://www.asp.net/webmatrix/download.aspx?tabindex=4) this include a webserver for testing. This also needs the .Net framework installed and will run on Win2K and WinXP. This is also a FREE download.

There is also a Microsfot product in Beta testing right now called Visual Web Developer 2005 Express Edition Beta 2 (http://lab.msdn.microsoft.com/express/vwd/). This has the same requirements as the other two and also includes a webserver to run applications written in it.

The Cassini thing said it required Windows XP Pro. and I only have home.

Read it again. It works on Win2k, Windows XP Pro and XP Home. As quoted from the requirements page

loading IIS onto your computer should cause any issues. It will use some resources, but nothing that you will notice on any P4 based system. It makes web development on your computer much easier.
