we are desperately and eagerly looking forward to your responses and we sincerely believe that u will find the work quite interesting and challenging.

Welcome! I'm glad to see posts offering portfolio work, and I don't want to hit on people's requests, but I think it's noted because there are a lot of young designers/coders on here. It's nice when people post requests and offer some form of compensation -- either a portfolio piece or payment somehow, but keep in mind some things to watch out for, and I'd appreciate if you guys elaborate a bit, if that's workable for your company?:)

How about you guys be a little more specific -- tell us your company, what the project is working for, where is your location. Is this your first job for a clientel, is it for an internal section, where can I find further information about what product/services you offer?

I understand financial constraints, many people are falling in or out in the corporate world right now... but if you're a professional company, offering a professional portfolio piece, list a little more than the generic offerings you have supplied. There needs to be a trade off of trust.

Why am I posting this, because I've done work for ads like this before, I've seen it used, and I've been burned from it. No responses, no recognition -- hours wasted for a portfolio piece to help 'financially constrained' companies that I never heard from before.

Just as much as you may be offering us a break to do something worthwhile, so are we; and I'd like not to see too many people waste too much time if it's not worthwhile... and to not be exploited for their ideas. Either way, whoever codes this loses time, and therefore, loses money.

Again, I don't want to rub things the wrong way, but I'd like to know a bit more about what you want, since this is a free job -- and since you use a yahoo india address, not to mention subtle abbreviations for pronouns, I am naturally a bit skeptical of the validity.

Do not take this the wrong way, I just want people who read this to ask important questions before the possibility of selling themselves short of what they're worth... and we have a lot of smart users here that are worth a lot more than free+portfolio piece. Thanks!

Adding a site where i've only done the backend for, inside your design portfolio ?
Thats like trying to fool people by letting them judge the book you wrote, by showing them the cover someone else made.

No serious client will accept some screenshots or even the screens themselves, as a showcase for server side scripting. The design itself might not even be something your coder would be happy about.

And that you've done some pro bono work for a company they never heard of, probably wount impress future clients.

So i agree with bradyj : you need to give us more info about who you are/what company it is, what your finished clientside work looks like, what sort of compensation (a credit inside this application? possible payed work later on? ), property agreements (can the developper also use the code for his own purposes ?) etc

This may be frustrating you, but the rules for this forum clearly state

For offers, compensation (in monetary form or otherwise) must be accompanied and clearly stated in your post. This is not a "Help me write a script please" or "favors" forum.
Being allowed to include your own work inside your portfolio isn't realy compensation.
