Well, I plan on buying a vBulletin Board in the next few weeks. I have some money coming from a site design project I am doing and that will be my means of buying it. Now what would you all recomend, me buying it now or waiting for the next release if there is going to be a 2.2.6 soon? I want to get the latest one, but I don't want to buy it, install it, then have a new one come out right after I'm finished.
Anyway, I am new here. I have experiance with the vB, but I don't have my own license and I want to do the legal thing and actually buy it. I have v2.2.5 right now, but I don't have it on any sites, just a local host that I have to play around with it.
You get 1 year of free updates when you buy a license. At least for the owned license. Not sure about the leased one.
This means that you can safely buy it now and download updates as (and if) they come :)

Well, I know I can still dl the new one when it comes out, but then I have to go and reinstall it all, or do an update which can sometimes cause problems. Anyway, I think I'll just go ahead and buy it. I didn't notice any difference between 2.2.4 and 2.2.5, atleast basic-function wise.
As long as you don't plan on doing any serious hacking straight off, it shouldn't be a problem.
Minor releases usually just contain bugfixes, and with some patience you can apply them all by hand.
Vb is by far the best BB I have ever used, and modifying it is just a blast. It's easy once you get the hang of how things are tied togheter, and it is great fun.

Well, I just bought a license and now I can say what I am totaly legit. It's so wonderful :)
Anyway, I paid 160 bucks for it and that means I never have to renew the license, right? Just $30 for access to the member area after a year is up?
Congratulations! And yes, you're right. The current price to renew access to the members Area is $30.00/year. However you have the riight to run the software even if you don't renew.
