Difficulties publishing with NVU - had success with WestHost?

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone is successfully using NVU to publish on West Host hosted sites.

Specifically, I am confused about what to use as the publishing server.

My username is birbigshirts, so I have tried ftp://ftp.birbigshirts.com/www/birbigshirts/birbigs/

I would be interested to know if anyone has any suggestions here.

Thanks,

-Joe

What error do you get?
What sort of failure do you get?

Does FTP itself work?

Make sure you use the username 'birbigshirts@birbigshirts.com'.

More then likely what jalal suggest about the username is your problem. I just download and run a test so know that it works with WH. The only other thing I can think is that if there is not the directory "birpigs" already on the account you will get an error. Just means you need to remove that from the path. Once you have double clicked on the account name in NVU then you should be able to create the account useing the New Foulder icon that is to the right of the Edit sites button.

Looks like a nice little program.

The one thing I found hardest to comprehend with NVU is that it only has one location -- the "Publishing Server." With many other programs you typically have a local copy on your PC, and then publish your changes to the web.

As a believer in backups, I'd suggest that you "Publish" to your hard drive and then upload the updates (after you tested them locally) using your FTP program like FileZilla.

Cheers -- Tony

Greetings jbirbiglia,

I found webcreator lite to be insufficient for my needs. What I've done so far is develop my webcontent with webcreator in a temporary website. I'd like to use NVU to add a few pages and form-mail links, then publish the changes to my permenant website. Therefore, I'm curious how you resolved your problem.
