Vb4 Seo and base url question

Hello there,
This may seem stupid to some people but I have a question regarding the <base url tag in vbulletin 4

I have mods like a gallery running outside of the forum directory,
under vb3 there were replacements made, adding a vboptions to all links pointing to the forum directory...
Now, with the base url set, this does not seem to be necessary anymore, because the browser sends all relative urls back to the forum directory..

works fine..
[B]BUT
what about google or text browsers, do they obey the base url tag? or do they follow the relative path?

Example
forum is in
www.mycom.com/forums
the gallery i use is in
www.mycom.com/gallery
now on a gallery page i have a link to : member.php
with vb4 it links to www.mycom.com/forums/member.php
with vb3 it links to www.mycom.com/gallery/member.php (which does not exist) so I had replaced all links to forum manually one by one adding:$vboptions/ in the templates.. now it seems that this is no more needed....

[B]Here is my question:
now if google or other search engine or some text browser drops by, will it go to where the base url sends it.. or will it follow the real (relative path)??

Or
will it index the content of forums/member.php but leave the link pointing to gallery/member.php ?????

In clear, for those pages, NOT residing in the forum directory, should i remove the baseurl tag pointing to forums or not???

hope you understand what i meen...

thank you for any thoughts...

Felix
