BillBoard Script

Hi,
I'm having problems with the DHTML Billboard (http://www.dynamicdrive.com/dynamicindex2/dhtmlbillboard.htm) script.
It's a fantastic script but the option to hide/show content in older browsers doesn't work, well not for my 4.79 version of Netscape!
I'm referring to this part of the code in the script:

var hidecontent_from_legacy=1 //Should content be hidden in legacy browsers- IE4/NS4 (0=no, 1=yes).
Whether i put the var to 1 or 0, netscape 4 always show the content.
Since I want my site to be crossbrowser-savvy, this is annoying.
Can anyone help?
Tony

I take it that NS4.79 doesn't actually show the billboard?

If it does, you need an older browser to test this out! :p

Hi,
Yeah it does show the Billboard!
;)

Heh... oh dearie.

I'll try to find you an older version to download :)

IE3 for Win95.
ooh.

cr3ative

Er, why do you think I need another older browser
Do you not understand the script or my initial message!
;)

You need an older browser, because they CAN'T show the script, and therefore you need to stop it trying, thats what the code does.
As your browser DOES show the billboard, it doesn't need to hide the code.

If this isn't what the code is meant to do (i'm 90%), my apologies :)

Sorry!

Hi,
Let me quote you the advice from the script makers:

Additionally, in older browsers (ie: NS4/IE4), you can choose whether the script should hide all of the content or not, since if the later, all of the content is shown all at once (depending on your page design, you may not want this).

Now what i'm raising is the fact that the part of code that should carry out this function DOES NOT DO SO!

;)
OK?

Is there anyone out there who might help pls

Thanks
tony

Cheers for clearing that up Tony.

I'll attempt to rewrite the script so it does sucessfully hide the billboard, it'll take me around 20 mins.

(ever tried the internet in netscape 1.1? its hilarious! :p)

Ok, i've attached a code that works.

Rename to htm (I can't attach htm, only .txt.. odd)

Sorry for the mixup!

Thanks for this - I look forward to your rewrite.
Netscape 1? yeah in fact I have NN 1 on my machine - I think embarrassing is the word, especially for web site owners!!
By the way, have you seen this site? it 'mirrors' any site you want:

take a look at Dynamic Drive (http://www.dynamicdrive.com.mirror.sytes.org/) in a new window
