I am running a couple of DHTML scripts and neither will work correctly until the user disables the windows xp sp2 ie security bar thing. Excuse my vague description but I think others will know what I am talking about. Please help me to provide a solution for this to XP SP2 IE users. Thanks!

Yes, common problem. Upload the files, and the information bar will disappear.

Ok, so this only happens before you upload the files to the site? Thanks for the help/info!

Sorry, but this is not true. it happens ALWAYS because of restictions in SP2's new security features

but once someone clicks to allow the content, it never comes back right?

but why is it that this happened when i tested my site but it never happened when i visited dynamic drive's pages?

Woah there soldier. We're talking javascript/dhtml. The information bar does disappear online for those. It does not however for ActiveX controls and popups, but they're a different matter.

The proof of the pudding is that when one accesses the DynamicDrive.com website and views a script, the bar doesn't come up.

edit:
"but why is it that this happened when i tested my site but it never happened when i visited dynamic drive's pages?" - hope this reply answers your questions.

not for me when visiting my site. www.decomputeur.nl

... no information bar for me (internet explorer 6, windows xpsp2)
edit: Perhaps you modified the security settings?

I'm confused :)

Yeah I think this is going to be case by case based on security settings and browser. I will reevaluate my problems on another computer or two once my site goes live and is not just being tested offline. Thanks

This is becoming a bit of a worry for me too. I use a few Dynamic Drive scripts and some set it off, and so does the odd .pdf documents opening in a new page. The two extra clicks to allow it is very off putting. How do I stop it happening.

For a normal user, the default windows setup does not provoke information bars for dynamic drive scripts. PDF's require an activeX control in internet explorer, but they're a different story.
