Computer speakers making noise

This is getting on my nerves. I cant stand it. My computer speakers every so often are making a buzzing noise. Not like they are busted or anything. The noise is coming from the computer. But when I shut everything out, it still happens. I am confused why is this happening?

You know what, I just went through the same problem with my computer speakers. Basically a cheap pair of speakers that's probably not magnetically shielded, and having them too close to the monitor damaged them somehow. I doubt its your computer itself making the buzzing noise, otherwise, you have a lot bigger problems to worry about. :)

Especially if it continues to do it when switched off!

Im not sure if this was the problem. But my brother was logged in while I was logged in and he had somekind of flash game going so once I switched the user to his name close out the program, It seemed to stop. Weird eh.:cool:

I am having the same problem. No its nots the speakers..no programs are running...just occasionally it sounds like a bee is in my computer..and its loud..lol anyway..any help??

have you opened it up and checked for bees?
EDIT: it could be a cable up against a fan...

Is there a mobile phone near it?

Had the same problem. Speakers made weird noises. Back audio output port was the cause.... but headphones worked in that. Speakers? No... since the front 'headphone' port works with them.. but the plug, oddly, doesn't quite snap it.
//confusing

I just used a new pair of speakers... no problem now. Not as much bass, though :p

yes, cell phones could do it, or something physical. Or... just the harddrive rotating? CD drive?

try a mobo with a "sound card" pci port
they have their own power seperate from the rest of the hardware
on my machine it completly eliminated the noise comming out of my speakers
