The battle is going to be ugly.

(Apologies for people who are on dialup :P)

Hi I'm a mac I am cool and hip and all fun and games.. except that only silly games will run on me, all the cool games are made for windows only. The ones that aren't are very expensive. Just like my hardware, which you can't upgrade by the way.

Hi, I'm a PC, I want you to do well in business and school and learn a lot, so I have included extra crap you can buy, cause let's face it, nothing is free, and you can install power point and word programs, as well as financial reports and encyclopedias. I, however, am going to crash within the first 6 months of you bringing me home and will need to be rebooted at least twice a day to be at optimal performance, which is below standards anyway.

Hi, I'm Linux... I do everything those other guys do without much of the hassle, oh and we have WoW now ;)

Hi, I'm a PC, I am going to crash within the first 6 months of you bringing me home...
OBJECTION!!!

I've Had My Comp Since June, And It Works Great. Never Had A Blue Screen Of Death. Ive Royally Screwed Up With My Optimization Induced Service Disabling...
But The Entire Computer Has Never Crashed Before. The Display Driver A Couple Of Times.. But Thats Because I Only Have On Board Video.

But You Are Correct on The Linux... I'm Jealous Of Twey. He Was Able To Install Kubuntu. For Some Reason I Cant Get The BIOS Set Up To Boot From CD.

Kubuntu? I use Gentoo, thank you very much. :p

I have, actually, heard of quite a few people who say their copies of Windows are perfectly stable. However, I've had only negative experiences myself.

Blizzard, you made an error when you acted like a PC and Linux are two diffrent things, because MAC vs PC is not PC vs MAC vs Linux, because Linux is an operating system , pc means personal computer, you would LOAD linux onto a PC, lol. so you kinda created a demented loophole. you would say, hi im WINDOWS and i crash in 6 months, i sure hope not, cuz my computer is a month old, and i could easily compare it to Zuess himself :D 300fps Cs:s max quality fw00t , HEADSHOT , dont leave out BF2142 either =)

pc means personal computer, you would LOAD linux onto a PC, lol.Let's not forget that Linux also runs on many other architectures, including the Mac's PPC.

And, if you're arguing "PC" as personal computer... 1. mac coined the term. 2. Macs are personal computers.
PC generally refers to windows. It's not a 'windows computer' so people usually go with PC.

Bada-Bing.

I suppose it can be seen like this:
OSX = Windows;
Mac = ?
So... people just call them PCs.

As for linux... well... people who use linux are probably just generally more mature than to start this debate.

Linux users are just that much more above Macs ands PCs :D

I didn't say that. I said mature enough not to start the debate. I didn't start the debate... I don't use linux. ;)

As for linux... well... people who use linux are probably just generally more mature than to start this debate.Hah! You've evidently never been caught up in a vi/emacs flamewar. :p Linux zealots are even more infamous than their Mac-loving counterparts.

I'll debate on linux in a mature matter. Does anyone have a problem with Linux?

my windows install is stable *barely* but the most stable non-unix os i have ever used

and for the mac/pc battle how many games acually come out on the mac right away??

and for the mac/pc battle how many games acually come out on the mac right away??Few. ID usually releases Linux/Mac variants of their games at the same time as the Windows ones.

see that is the ONLY thing where windows is better
well you could use wine for unix but not a mac

Availability of software doesn't reflect on the quality of the platform itself (although it may be a measure of its usability for a given purpose). Windows isn't better because it has more games, although for a serious gamer it's probably the best prospect currently.

i still preffer a unix based -->PC<--
mac is just jumping in the game too late i think
nearly everyone already used pc and is now used to wondoze

http://tv.truenuff.com/mac/
A funny spoof series making fun out of the Mac vs Pc adverts.

I can crash anything, as I have read in other places, nothing is foolproof to a talented fool.:eek:

But I luv my macs.:D

I use xp pro, and have tried the media and home, and can sympathise with windows haters. XP pro seems to be a bit better.

And just because millions of people drive chevy's, don't make it the best :p

Just makes it popular.

My windows machines have cost me on the average 3 times what my macs have cost. upgrades, peripherals, time fixing, etc.

500 for the emac, 35 for an airport card and that is it. Works like a champ.

1400 for the windows laptop, 200 memory, 60 anti hackware, two trips to service, 2 weeks hunting buggers on comp, drawing program crashes. Worst money ever spent. Had to have it to run a specific software :(

next comp...powerbook... spend the money upfront and get rid of the hassles. If you have to have windows, get bootcamp

500 for the emac500 what?

500 US dollars?

my windows install is stable *barely* but the most stable non-unix os i have ever used

I think windows is the only OS that isn't unix based... (maybe BSD, but im not sure... ya.. BSD too... OSX... Solaris...)

The Mac Mini.

I think windows is the only OS that isn't unix based... (maybe BSD, but im not sure... ya.. BSD too... OSX... Solaris...)Mac OS pre-X wasn't. DOS and its many variants (QDOS, MS-DOS, FreeDOS) aren't; OS/2 and Haiku aren't; OpenVMS and FreeVMS aren't. From what I can find (alas, I don't have a VAX to test a VMS), they're all more stable than Windows, with the possible exception of Haiku, which is still under development.

I think windows is the only OS that isn't unix based... (maybe BSD, but im not sure... ya.. BSD too... OSX... Solaris...)

what i was referring to (and probably should have said) was of every windows, dos, mac (oddly enough i havent used any of the newer ones id better fix that :D ) have been instable for me

excluding the one im using now

but im much less taxing on my computers now

I still like my NFS and CNC games.
