Ubuntu help!!

Hi, I have recently installed a virtual PC installation of Ubuntu, and I want wobbly windows :)

But to have wobbly windows I need to install new nvidia drivers for linux.
But for that I need to know how to get root shell access.

I type in sh home/liam/Desktop/NVIDIAdriversblahblah.run and it says I need root access. At the top it says something about sudo command to get root, I am new to linux and would like it if someone would reply with the command needed to install the drivers.

Thank you.

P.s, if anyone wants to see a screenshot of my new configuration, its below ^^

Hi, I have recently installed a virtual PC installation of Ubuntu, and I want wobbly windows :)You expect to get wobbly windows at a decent performance rate under a VM? You probably can't actually install the NVIDIA drivers anyway: your VM probably provides a fake graphics card to which X writes instead.
I type in sh home/liam/Desktop/NVIDIAdriversblahblah.run and it says I need root access. At the top it says something about sudo command to get root, I am new to linux and would like it if someone would reply with the command needed to install the drivers. The Ubuntu-ish way of doing it is:
sudo sh NVIDIA*.runYou may have to set this up, though, I'm not sure if Ubuntu does it for you. The alternative is to use su:
su -c "sh NVIDIA*.run"I think you need to shut X down first though.

Thanks twey, I have now decided to dual boot vista and ubuntu. But I don't want to re-partion my hard drive. I think it may already be partioned, but is there any way to see?

Thanks.
