ERROR 2003: can't conect to server localhost on 10061
What I'm I NOT doing
Just installed php3 (works fine)
Apache (works fine)
Did you start the MySQL deamon? Did you start your server?
Start your apache server. Then: In DOS-box, go to your MySQL install-dir and choose bin subdir (e.g. c:mysqlbin) and run MYSQLD. This starts your MySQL deamon. Now it should work if the configurations are right.

I'm having the same problem. Funny thing is I have been using Mysql successfully for over a year and suddenly this error pops up.
I can't get mysqld to run and am having the same error.
Is it possible for the port number to be other than 3306 or is this written in stone?
I don't know if this is relevant but is it worth trying other port numbers?
Thanks for any assistance offered.
Jim Coyle
It shouldn't be the port. Your problem is mysqld not starting. What happens when you try to run it?
It may have become corrupt. Try reinstalling just mysqld.
