Want reliable/secure password manager program. Any suggestions?

Yes, I've already done the Google search, Download.com, Tucows, and everywhere else, including my PC Connection magazine and other related websites.

Even a search on my favorite Epinions.com came up with little but one possibility called "Password Locker."

Not very many revues that I'd count on, and I hoped that with the "readership" on this Dev Shed Lounge site, that some lively discussion would ensue so I could get a GOOD program and not some scam that actually serves as a method for the SELLER to get MY passwords! (I'm basically a suspicious person by nature, I guess)

I also have a problem with making passwords that would look like they are spewed out of a random number generator, and then REMEMBERING them, so if this program actually helped GENERATE a more secure password, THAT would really be a PLUS!

As I check most of these out, I can't count on the beauty of the website, or even necessarily the "Verisign" insignia, so I thought I'd ask some HUMANS for your opinions.

I'd rather stay away from the "free" downloads for the above reason that I know so LITTLE about programming that I'm not smart enough to know if someone is giving me dangerous software instead of helpful software. So, can I trust you guys???

I'll check back for the hundreds of responses that are sure to come in shortly... in the meantime - I've got major printing to do with my successfully installed HP Officejet printer! :D :D

http://www.passward.net/ is an interesting solution. Otherwise, look for software that stores the passwords in encrypted format, on your local machine. Don't worry about freeware if you get it from a respectable site like tucows or download.com and have good antivirus protection. I personally just use a system for making my passwords so that they are easy to remember but hard to guess.

I guess I'm just too suspicious for my own good! Thanks again Karsh44!
