Okay. Advice on PC Parts

Hi,

I haven't build a computer in a long time, and I'm needing a new linux test pc.

Can any of you help me see if this will work?

These are the parts I will be likely to get:

29002 : AMD ATHLON XP1700+ 266MHz FSB - Thoroughbred - OEM : £31.00
34834 : Coolermaster DP5-6J31C Fan AMD Approved Upto XP & MP 2100 : £4.43
51052 : Shuttle Xpc SK41G Amd Socket A Aluminium Barebones System : £144.52
42141 : Crucial PC2100 128mb DDR 184pin DIMM : £16.99
49301 : Maxtor Fireball 3 30gb ATA133 5400rpm - OEM : £32.48

from Ebuyer.co.uk

Thanks,
computer

Looks good to me. I haven't built a barebones system, but you have all the needed parts there (assuming you have a monitor and keyboard already ;) )

Get a 7200 rpm harddrive, and I would go with Western Digital over Maxtor. Better reliability, but if it's only a test system you would be ok. You might also consider a little more RAM.
