P4 3.0 Power Supply Requirements?

Hi,

Should I get a 300 watt power supply or do I need more to run the P4 3.0?

Thanks.

Get the best and most powerful PSU you can afford.

Check that the psu you get says that it supports p4. Shouldn't be much of a concern with new supplies, but if you're getting a used one or something, it could be an issue.

Basically, you need to realize that a bad psu could fry all the hardware in your box. Since your other post listed some impressive hardware, you won't want that to happen. A 300w supply might be enough, but it would be pretty marginal. I would recommend something more substantial, and only a good brand. http://www4.tomshardware.com/howto/20030609/index.html is a good review of some higher end psu's. Check it out.

if there is no neons or anything in there it might be alright, but if there are neons, or a big case fan or two then u might wanna go for something a little more powerful
