new system - no signal no post beeps

I have a problem with a system i have just upgraded, no video signal at all & no post beeps
the hardware is all new (apart from graphics card) so "shouldnt" be faulty.
specs:

GA-7NNXP motherboard
AMD 2700+ athlon xp CPU
2x512mb Corsair XMX ddr ram
Radeon 9000 pro 128mb graphics card

im assuming its not the ram as the ram led is on. ive tried a diff graphics card with no luck.
any help would be fantastic guys

OK what happens when you power on with no ram in? Any beeps?

no beeps then either :(

TBH mate sounds like a faulty mobo.
Do you know of anyone with a motherboard that you could try your chip in?

try powering up with no chip in as well.

Also try powering it on removing a component each time (gfx card, hdd, modem etc)

ive got nothing connected apart from gfx card (which i need for vga) and ram, is there anyway to test if the mobo is faulty before i send it back? i dont know of ne1 i can test anything in

btw the psu is a macron 300w

I'd take the graphics card out too mate.

Sometimes the gfx card can cause endless amounts of problems.

i cant connect the monitor to the pc without the gfx card as the agp slot on the mobo seems to be a different connection.

but you will hear system beeps :/

ok ive just tried that and got no system beeps :(
ive also just tried an old pci card with no change.
the only thing ihave been recommended to try is booting with the mobo outside the case in the chance that the case is shorting the board somehow.
i know im probably being a pain here but im wanting to try as much as poss b4 sending the board back

Hmm wouldnt recommend booting outside the case.

Send it back mate, sounds DUFF

will do thanks a lot for the help :)

unplug all power connections, use the cmos jumper a clear the cmos settings, does this video card have a power supply connection, my radeon does, if so try a different plug like the one from the floppy drive, if the floppy seems to have power. after you have rest the cmos see if it will boot, sometimes the bios is not set to default even on a new board. if that dont get it i suspect you either need different ram, or a different video card.
you also know you are using a radeon video card and a chipset designed by and for nvidia right?

hey guys, new member here... I know i'm digging up a really old post, blame google for that :P

I'm experiencing the same problem with GA-7NNXP mobo, was this problem ever resolved? what a pain, i removed the vga card and the ram and still no system beep.
the VGA card's fan has a blue lamp though, and that turns on when i boot up, but no video signal on the monitor.
monitor works, i checked.

on the possibility of the case shorting the mobo, that usually results in the RAM lamp not turning on at all...this is plain weird.

tried a diff graphics card too, that didn't work either.

EDIT: Btw, this mobo has worked fine for me for about 2 years... then after 3 months of no use at all (vacation), then it wouldn't boot properly...now it wouldn't boot at all. just a bit of background, since mine isn't a new system like the thread topic says :D

thanks, any help would be much appreciated.

Hi OmniXBro, Welcome to DevShed. :)

As you have tried a different video card and it still didn't work, I think we can assume it's not the card. Do you have a different monitor to try ? It could be the monitor that is faulty - see if you can try that first.

Howdy Aitken...whatever your number is O_o

Thanks for the warm welcome :) You missed a short line in my question post :

Monitor works, I checked

What I tried was, I plugged the monitor to my laptop's video out (the one usually for LCD projector) and that worked fine.

So it's not the video card or the monitor.... The weirdest error is that it doesn't beep (no POST?) even when it's booted without VGA card or RAM... is my mobo #$%^&*)ed? >_<

Thanks :D

Unfortunatley, things are pointing towards a faulty motherboard.

ho snap....

Ummm... I know it sounds obvious, but have you removed the motherboard and ensured that there isn't anything shorting the board out?

You say you've "upgraded" and you list a new mobo as one of those upgrades.

I replaced a mobo once and forgot to take one stinkin' screw post out of the case when I reconfigured them for the new board. That one screw post stopped my entire system from booting. Took me a couple days before I took the time to remove everything and notice it.

I remember all the leds on the mobo were lit and everything looked fine. But no post.
