Streaming a video

Hi

I want to allow visitors of my client's website to view trailers of his movies. The trailers are in quicktime format and approx 7MB in size.

Can anyone tell me what's the best way to go about doing it in this situation? I converted one trailer to FLV and imported it in Flash 8 using the option "Progressive download". However, this method is not practical at all for viewing in a webpage.

I would appreciate any help.

What you have done IS the best way. Obviously it isn't great. There isn't much else you can do about it for now. The joys of letting Adobe take over your company, eh?

You can look into video streaming services, but they are pretty pricey.

Had a look at their services, but they are quite expensive. I finally decided not to stream the trailers but to make them available for download.The best I could do was to compress a 7MB quicktime to 2.7MB FLV, using Sorenson Squeeze (http://www.sorensonmedia.com/) but even this is not practical for Progressive download, not to mention the low image quality. Anyway, for those looking for video compression, I would recommend this software.It's quite expensive though.

Sorry I couldn't be more help. I have heard that version 9 will have better video capabilities... but I wouldn't expect it.. Adobe loves to make promises and not keep them.

That's the cool thing of Flash, you can almost ALWAYS find a way to do something else other than what they intended a certain application for. :)

Try downloading Coffee Cup Video Player 4.5 at www.coffecup.com This makes lots of different types of video into Flash files in neat viewer panels.
