Test your new site without changing your browser settings!

A quick and simple 1MB download of Off By One (http://offbyone.com/offbyone/) and you can see your new site in a most rudimentary way.

It's a tiny little browser (just over 1MB), and you can run it without installing, so it will work from a hard disk or a flash drive. It doesn't do JavaScript, CSS, ActiveX, or any of those other newfangled web technologies. In other words, you're going to have a hard time doing your online banking with Off By One, but if you're visiting relatives (particularly in a third world country), and looking for a way to check your GMail, catch up on the latest news from your local paper's web site, the browser works incredibly well. I can't remember the last time I saw pages open so quickly on a dial-up connection.

Instead of keeping that old PC around to see how your site works with it, just use Ob1. Sure you can't really use it to look at everything like a standard browser, but this is a great testing tool. It was designed to be a stand alone browser for use during travel or visiting relatives, etc. Maybe you go to Grandma's house and she still has dial up...
But as far as testing, say CSS degrading, you don't need to alter your normal browser to disable CSS, just load the site in Ob1!

Cool!

May the 4's b with U Ob1.

Heheh.

I use links for this.
