Lessons for Windows Python?

Ok, Im new to python, Ive had it for a day and have been through the Part 1 and Part 2 lessons you have posted on your site.

The thing is, I understand everything going on in the code, but have trouble with the input methods you described.

Im not sure if im running Python in the correct mode, i type python from the command prompt (start menu-->run) and it brings up a dos window, Ive tried running through most of part 2's lessons there, but they mess up. Ive also tied running the Python GUI program, which does the exact same thing, it gives me errors.

I was wondering if you could point me to some Python for windws tutorials?

Also how does a person save a file that they can execute later?
Like if i wanted someone to enter there name and theire date of birth, how could I get Python to grab these to variables, ten put them to gether and 'print' them to screen to see the result?

Yours truly,
estron (the budding python fan)

Here is a URL for a python tutorial
